How to get to Calahonda from
Malaga using public transport
The cheapest way to get to Calahonda from Malaga Airport is to use public transport.
A train direct goes from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola every half hour throughout the day, from where you can catch a bus to Calahonda.
Another option to cut costs is to take the train from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola and then grab a taxi to Calahonda for the short 10 minute journey.
Malaga Aiport to Fuengirola by train
You will need to follow the directions below as the train station is not clearly signposted at arrivals in the new Malaga Airport.
Leave the main arrivals area and look for the LONG walkway which goes towards your right.
Follow the walkway as far as the bridge on your left. Cross the bridge and you will find the small train station.
There is no manned ticket booth but there are two ticket machines.
You must get a ticket before boarding your train as the ticket inspector will give you a hefty fine.
The machine takes debit and credit cards.

There are concrete steps up onto the platform. It is single track here, trains arriving from the right go into Malaga City and from the left into Fuengirola (end of the line).
Trains leave for Fuengirola every half hour from 5:34am until 22:34pm and the journey time is 35 minutes. They are very punctual.
A new station is due to open nearer the brand-new Malaga Airport terminal at Easter 2010. Access will then a lot easier and via a covered walkway.
